Executive Director
Cathy Lewis is the founding host of Hear/Say with Cathy Lewis where she has built a large and loyal midday audience for Hampton Roads public radio station 89.5 WHRV-FM where she reaches more than 30,000 listeners each day.
Cathy’s radio work complements her role with the CIVIC Leadership Institute, where she has served as Executive Director since 2001. Nationally, her televised humor essays have been featured on the Hallmark Network in "Sowing Seeds", a weekly television program nominated for a Chicago/Midwest Regional Emmy. The wife of a clergyman and mother of a 16-year old student athlete, Cathy is a member of The Williams School Board of Trustees where she recently completed two terms as President and is a member of the board of Habitat for Humanity South Hampton Roads.
A sought after professional speaker, trainer and moderator of corporate and community conversations, Cathy recently earned full membership in the National Speakers Association. In 2003, she was named one of the Outstanding Business Women in Hampton Roads by Inside Business magazine and she is frequently ranked among the top radio personalities in the region by the readers of PortFolio Weekly and Hampton Roads Monthly. Hampton Roads Monthly named her one of the “50 Very Important People in Hampton Roads” and PortFolio Weekly named her one of the “100 Best People, Places and Things in Hampton Roads.”

Kristen E. Spitz
Program Manager
Kristen began working for the CIVIC Leadership Institute in May of 2006. Kristen graduated from The College of William and Mary with a Bachelors’ Degree in both History and Public Policy. While at The College she worked as a resident assistant for two years and was the President of Common Ground, a campus a cappella group.
Before joining the CIVIC team, Kristen spent a summer as an intern on Capitol Hill working for Senator John Warner. During her senior year of college she worked as a part-time legislative assistant for state Senator Tommy K. Norment.
